Florida Atlantic University is an urban, regional research university serving six counties in Southeast Florida. The University is developing as a distributed university that is geographically dispersed but academically, organizationally, and technologically integrated. The mission of FAU is to provide an enriching, comprehensive academic experience that produces well-informed, productive citizens. Central to this mission is the University's responsibility to develop in students the critical skills and historical perspective necessary to understand and mold a rapidly changing world. Florida Atlantic University's Mission Statement: The Office of International Programs (OIP) coordinates, supports, and encourages international education activities for the students, faculty, and colleges of Florida Atlantic University (FAU). OIP serves the undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and departments of all nine colleges on FAU's seven different campuses. OIP strives for academic excellence and superior service to the FAU community as we send FAU students on approved study abroad and exchange programs; help FAU faculty create short term study abroad programs; negotiate international agreements with leading educational institutions in other countries; advise student and faculty on fellowship and grant opportunities for overseas study and research and support FAU colleges, faculty, and academic leaders in advancing FAU strategic goals in international education.
