As a small residential college, Newberry seeks to create a community of students concerned with academic excellence, service to others, and responsible citizenship. The college aims to graduate students as informed, articulate, and responsible human beings with an enhanced capacity for continued growth toward personal excellence and a deepened ability to place issues in a humane and ethical context. To accomplish these ends, the college offers a challenging educational program and a rich set of opportunities for involvement in cocurricular activities. The formal academic program combines a liberal arts core curriculum with in-depth study in a wide variety of traditional disciplines and selected professional and pre-professional fields. Newberry students may pursue one of four baccalaureate degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, and Bachelor of Science).
