Highlights: Through the academic programs, the University encourages its students to stretch the range of their curiosity and methods of knowing. As undergraduates, students work on research and scholarship projects in a variety of science and professional areas. Many faculty and students co-write papers for publication or prepare presentations for regional and national conferences. Every spring the University hosts a day for students to share their academic work with their peers. There are also hands-on learning experiences through experiential learning, field experience, internships, practicums, study tours and service learning. For truly challenging academics, students can apply to the Honors Program, a community of learners dedicated to rigorous coursework, problem-solving approaches to learning, leadership, and public service.

University Attributes: The University of Maine at Presque Isle is a four-year university for motivated undergraduates who seek intellectual, cultural, and outdoor adventure in a small, supportive community. Outstanding faculty and small-group classes are at the heart of the learning experience. UMPI combines liberal arts and selected professional programs to offer 26 baccalaureate and associate degrees. There are many student organizations, intercollegiate & intramural athletics, and cultural & fun activities to engage students outside the classroom.

Off campus explorations are a natural extension of the experience. Aroostook County is a four season paradise. You can canoe or kayak some of the most pristine waterways around or go biking, hiking, rock climbing, or caving. Winter sports include cross country skiing at ta world-class nordic facility, downhill skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. There are also daytrips and weekend explorations to Canada, the Maine seacoast, or New England cities and towns.
