Eastern Michigan University, located in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is a comprehensive university that was founded by the state legislature in 1849. The fifth largest university in Michigan with an enrollment exceeding 23,000, EMU offers more than 200 graduate and undergraduate programs. Eastern Michigan University provides numerous services designed to help students achieve academic success. These include tutoring, a writing clinic, and counseling. In addition, the University has established several offices, including Equity Programs for minority students and Handicapped Student Services for students with specialized needs. Eastern Michigan offers a low ratio of students to faculty (20:1), most classes are taught by full professors, and faculty are easily accessible and responsive to students' academic needs. Our faculty care about students as individuals and want them to succeed.

Most programs are open to students from any college or university. EMU students can apply financial aid awards toward the programs. We also provide advising and information about study abroad opportunities available through other universities, work or volunteer opportunities abroad and budget travel.
