Franciscan University of Steubenville has been recognized as one of the best Catholic universities in the country by U.S. News and World Report, Barron's magazine, National Review, and the National Catholic Register. Our Honors Program provides an exciting intellectual challenge that can be integrated into any course of study. Our Business courses continue to be among the most popular in the curriculum; our Psychology and Mental Health and Human Services Programs sends many of its graduates to over 50 graduate schools throughout the country, all of whom have successfully completed their advanced degrees; our Nursing graduates have achieved a high success rate in passing their state board exams; and our Math, Science, and Pre-Med Programs produce exemplary graduates. Franciscan University has earned an international reputation for its Theology Program. Grounded in Sacred Scripture and Tradition, the program attracts more undergraduate Theology majors than any other Catholic university or college in the country. The fall of 1991 marked the inauguration of our study abroad program in Gaming, Austria. Students study and live in a restored medieval monastery, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Austrian Alps. A special class schedule offers them the opportunity to encounter the historical venues of Prague, Rome, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, and London and to meet fellow students from all over Europe. Franciscan University of Steubenville has an unique household system. Households are groups of five to twenty-five students who share, support, and pray with one another. They are the nucleus of Catholic living and encourage the concrete expression of faith. Households and Works of Mercy, our outreach program are active in the local community, participating in a wide variety of service projects.
