Simmons College
United States
University Attributes:
Simmons College is a national recognized, small, private women's college in the heart of Boston, with over 2,000 undergraduate students. Founded in 1899 on the revolutionary idea that women should be able to earn independent livelihoods and lead meaningful lives, Simmons provides a strong liberal arts education integrated with professional career preparation. Our exceptional faculty and small, intimate classes characterize this experience. Simmons offers more than forty undergraduate majors and programs as well as renowned coeducational graduate programs and the world's only M.B.A. designed specifically for women. A thriving, metropolitan city, Boston is the backdrop for Simmons, offering everything from Thai food and ice skating on Boston Common, to the Museum of Fine Arts and historic Faneuil Hall. Considered by many to be the best college town in the nation, Boston is home to more than 50 colleges and universities and approximately 300,000 students. Within walking distance, students also have access to some of the best academic, medical, and business institutions in the U.S. for unparalleled internship opportunities. While embracing the rich history of its past, Simmons is simultaneously planning for an exciting future. We have built a beautiful, bright new College Center, and are constructing a handsome new graduate school building on the main campus; a state-of-the-art Technology Resource Center; a new Women and Work Institute; new multimedia technology classrooms; continued renovations to student dormitories with 'wired to the pillow' technology access; and additional conference space.
