University Attributes: Thiel College, an independent institution related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, was founded as Thiel Hall in Monaca, PA in 1866 and chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1870. In 1871 the College moved to Greenville. Thiel College, a small liberal arts school with big ideas, is located on a charming, 135-acre, tree-lined campus in the heart of Western Pennsylvania's hill country. Greenville is a 90-minute drive from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio vibrant urban centers bustling with opportunity. Our small size makes it possible for students to carve their own niche both in class and on campus with the potential to become leaders in the over 40 organizations, clubs and honor societies and 19 intercollegiate sports. Thiel's success at preparing its students can be expressed in its 98% career placement rate, along with rankings in the 'top tiers' of northern liberal arts, sciences and professional studies colleges and being rated among the best in the United States for our math and science programs by Peterson's Top Colleges for Science. Thiel is also listed on Yahoo's 'America's Most Wired Colleges 2000'.

Tangible evidence of Thiel's quality can be seen in many things, not the least being the new technology infrastructure. Thiel has installed state-of-the-art campus-wide networking that provides Internet access, cable television and enhanced telephone services, including voice mail, to all residence halls, classrooms and offices. A new fitness center offers strength training, cardiovascular equipment, aerobics/kick-boxing space and a social center. Residence halls have been improved with the addition of new lofted dorm furniture. The campus highlight is the renovation of the campus student center. It features a winding staircase, a snack bar which serves Starbucks Coffee®, and the campus bookstore, post office and new art galleries. New offices have been constructed for the campus ministry, student services and career center departments. Thiel College is a place that continues to improve and grow.
