Western Montana College
United States
University Attributes:
Here at UM-Western, we take pride in our small, beautiful campus and community. Both the campus and community are filled with a rich history only found in Southwestern Montana. In 1893, UM-Western began as Montana State Normal College with about two hundred students. The college quickly established a reputation for turning out well-rounded, quality individuals who were equipped to make a difference wherever they went. Now, over a century later, the campus of The University of Montana - Western has just fewer than 1,100 students and still carries with it the reputation that was established in 1893. With an average class size of 20 students, there are opportunities for small-group and one-on-one instruction. Numerous campus clubs, groups, and organizations help make UM-Westerns student body diverse and active. UM-Western has taken on a new look in many different ways. This can be seen in the remodeled residence halls, renovated dining hall, new landscaping and enhanced classrooms, including the Rural Technology Center which is currently under construction.
