Whitworth College
United States
University Attributes:
Since 1890, Whitworth has held fast to its founding mission of providing 'an education of mind and heart' through rigorous intellectual inquiry guided by dedicated Christian scholars. Recognized as one of the top regional colleges and universities in the West, Whitworth enrolls 2,000 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Under the strong leadership of President William P. Robinson, Whitworth is enjoying record levels of student enrollment and retention, the strongest financial position in the college's history, and increased external visibility. The college's 200-acre campus of red-brick buildings and tall pines offers a beautiful, inviting and secure learning environment. More than $20 million in improvements have been made to the campus in the past five years, including renovations of the central classroom building and the science center, an expanded athletics complex, and a new fitness center and student union building. A major academic building and a new residence hall are planned as part of Whitworth's $50-million Faith in the Future Campaign. In all of these endeavors, the college seeks to advance its founder's mission of equipping students to 'honor God, follow Christ and serve humanity.'
